Individual Therapy in Winston-Salem, NC

Individual Therapy

If you find yourself disconnected from who you want to be, stuck in patterns of avoidance or procrastination, or being hard on yourself no matter what you accomplish, individual therapy can help you understand these patterns and change how you respond to them. My professional joy is assisting people in creating a fulfilling life by providing a space to step back, gain clarity, and make meaningful changes.

To address these patterns, I use an evidence-based approach that combines traditional cognitive behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices inspired by traditional eastern philosophy. This combination will help you change your relationship with your inner world, giving you more control over your actions and leading to greater life satisfaction. Clients of mine report leaving therapy with an enhanced ability to "make sense" of their internal experiences, allowing them greater control of their lives

A Different Approach to Thoughts and Feelings

My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), combining both mindfulness and behavioral strategies.

Instead of trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or feelings, we focus on changing your relationship to them.

This allows you to:

  • Step out of cycles of overthinking
  • Respond to anxiety more effectively
  • Make decisions with greater clarity
  • Take meaningful action, even when things feel uncomfortable

Over time, clients often feel less controlled by their thoughts and more able to live in alignment with what actually matters to them.

Who I Work With

Individual therapy goes beyond just crisis management, it can help create a map to your internal world, leading to a greater sense of ease with yourself. You may find individual therapy particularly beneficial if you if you:

  • Feel stuck in cycles of worry or racing thoughts
  • Struggle with avoidance or procrastination
  • Experience repetitive anxiety or periods of low mood
  • Feel disconnected from yourself or your direction in life
  • Are navigating a transition or feeling uncertain about what’s next
  • Want to better understand your emotions and patterns

This approach is especially helpful for people who are insightful but feel stuck applying that insight in their daily lives.
